Ranjit Babwah

To most of us, he was much more than his name. He was a Son, a Brother, a Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and a friend—a constant presence in our lives. To us, papa was the heart of our family. Papa was born on January 6th, 1948, to Kusme and John Babwah. From the very beginning, he was surrounded by love and family—something that would become the cornerstone of his life. He got married to Dulin Babwah, May of 1969 and they went on to have five children; Shamila, Geeta, Rakesh, Anand and Ravi, and over the years, his family grew to include 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He loved each and every one of us with all his heart. He was a big family man in every sense of the word. He didn’t just talk about love—he lived it. He had this incredible ability to put everyone else’s needs before his own. Whether you needed help, advice, or just a warm presence, he was there. Never asking for anything in return. Together with his beloved wife, he gave so much—not just to our family, but to anyone lucky enough to know them. Their home was always open, their hearts even more so. They taught us, not through words, but through action—what it means to live with generosity, compassion, and kindness. Some of my most cherished memories of him are simple ones: sitting together, sharing a meal, dancing and singing, playing cards and watching him light up when all the family was together and getting along. When we were together it brought him happiness . Nothing made him prouder than seeing his children and grandchildren grow, support one another, and carry forward the values he quietly instilled in all of us. His life was not just about the years he lived, but about the legacy he was leaving behind. A legacy of love, unity, humility, and selflessness. As we say goodbye, let us not only mourn his passing but also celebrate the life he lived—the lives he touched. Let’s honor him by carrying on the values he held dear: taking care of one another, being kind, and always making time for family. Papa may no longer be with us in body, but his spirit will always live on—in our stories, in our laughter, in our love for each other. That’s the gift he gave us. And that’s what we’ll carry with us, always. Rest in peace, Papa. We love you always and forever. Thank you for everything.
