Alba M. Rodriguez

Alba Maria Rodriguez Borrero was born in Neiva, Huila, Colombia on August 28, 1932 to Simón Borrero and Sinforosa Solano. She married Carlos Humberto Rodriguez on June 22, 1952. With a heart full of hope for the future, she brought her children to the United States in 1971 where she lived in New York City, Houston, and Los Angeles before finally settling in Lakeland, Florida. She will always be remembered as a fierce warrior and hard working woman of unimpeachable morals, which she passed on to her children. Above all, Alba Maria was a devoted mother, who shared the love of Christ with everyone she met. Her faith in God, her unwavering will, and her drive to live and enjoy her life, allowed her to overcome cancer on two occasions against all odds. The same faith and drive led to her miraculous recovery from a stroke in just 3 days, further demonstrating her relentlessness in overcoming every trial, problem, and illness. She raised her children instilling in them the highest of values, morally and spiritually. She taught them to live humbly, responsibly, and without bending to any adversity that life may bring. Alba Maria could be found raising her plants, cooking for family, worshipping in her church, having tea with her youngest daughter Vilma, or slipping napkin-wrapped sweets to her grandchildren. On the 29th of January 2021, while surrounded by her loved ones, Alba Maria joined her Heavenly Father for her eternal rest. She is survived by her four children: Carlos Enrique, Elizabeth, Fabio, and Vilma Cristina; seven grandchildren: Juan David, Fabio Andres, Jonathan Adrian, Luis Enrique, Christina Lizeth, Alba Stefany, and Max Perseus; and two great-grandchildren: Arabella Adrianna and Jordan Alexander. El 22 de junio de 1952 contrajo matrimonio con Carlos Humberto Rodriguez. Con el corazón lleno de esperanza y en busca de un mejor futuro para ella y para sus hijos en el año de 1971 arribó a los Estados Unidos donde vivió en las ciudades de Nueva York, Houston, Los Ángeles y Lakeland, Florida donde vivió sus últimos años junto a sus hijos. Siempre le recordaremos como una mujer guerrera, trabajadora, sencilla y de principios morales intachables, bajo los cuales educó a sus hijos. Una madre devota que compartió la religión de Cristo con todos los que conoció. Su Voluntad, sus ganas de vivir de disfrutar la vida y su Fe en Dios, le permitieron superar un cáncer que en dos ocasiones afectaron de manera crítica su salud, al igual que su tenacidad le permitió superar en tan solo tres días un derrame cerebral, demostrandonos que no se iba a dejar derrotar de los problemas, de las dificultades y de las enfermedades. Crió a sus hijos inculcandoles los más altos valores morales, espirituales, enseñándoles a vivir con sencillez, con responsabilidad y a no doblegarse ante las adversidades que la vida les presente. Se podía encontrar cultivando sus plantas, cocinando y atendiendo su familia, rezando en su iglesia, disfrutando un té con Vilma la menor de sus hijos o entregando dulces envueltos en servilletas a sus nietos. El pasado 29 de enero estando acompañada de todos sus seres queridos atendió el llamado de Dios para irse a descansar en paz. Le sobreviven sus cuatro hijos: Carlos Enrique, Elizabeth, Fabio y Vilma Cristina, siete nietos: Juan David, Fabio Andres, Jonathan Adrián, Luis Enrique, Christina Lizeth, Alba Stefany, y Max Perseus y dos bisnietos: Arabella Adrianna y Jordan Alexander.
